This National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, moe. is once again supporting The American Cancer Society (ACS) in its “Real Men Wear Pink” campaign, designed to engage more male community leaders and influencers in the Society’s mission to eliminate breast cancer.

In addition to selling limited edition pink merchandise through the moe. online store (coming soon), the band is offering fans the opportunity to donate for unique experiences at various donation levels, ranging from a round of golf with percussionist Jim Loughlin to a custom song written by guitarist Al Schnier. They are even offering high level donors the opportunity to “join the band for the day,” including hanging with the members during soundcheck, collaborating on the setlist, and sitting in during the show. All proceeds will be donated to ACS, the nation’s largest nonprofit source of cancer research funding. A donation of any amount enters fans for a chance to win VIP tickets to Summer Camp in 2023. Each year during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ACS invites community leaders to wear pink, plan events, and use social media to help raise awareness and funds for the Society’s breast cancer initiatives. This year also marks the 30th anniversary of ACS’ Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative, which will find 150 communities nationwide supporting The Society through 3-to-5 mile noncompetitive walks.

Having fought his own battle with cancer in 2017, moe.’s bass player Rob Derhak knows the importance of this cause firsthand. “I was fortunate to have a huge team of people rooting for me and giving me support,” Derhak recalls. “The American Cancer Society offered help with so many avenues that I didn’t know existed which made me realize how important the organization is. They offer support for people who may not have that team in their corner.”

“Cancer impacts all of us – friends, family, co-workers, neighbors – all of us,” adds Schnier. “Being married to someone who works directly for ACS has only made me more acutely aware of just how important the fundraising is – not only directly helping those battling cancer, but also in funding the research to make it treatable and not fatal.”

In 2020, female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide. Despite this, the death rate from breast cancer dropped by 41 percent from 1989 to 2018 as a result of earlier detection through increased awareness and mammography screening, as well as advances in treatments. Today, we celebrate the more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. including those who completed treatment and those still undergoing treatment.

“We are grateful to moe. and their community for making an impact in the lives of cancer patients and their families,” said Barb Romeu, Director, American Cancer Society. “We are proud to partner with them to ensure everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.”

ACS provides innovative research, patient services, health equity, and education around screenings and risk reduction. Since its inception, this annual program has raised more than $40 million towards the fight against breast cancer

moe. is a one-of-a-kind band that has never been easily categorized. Their sonic adventurousness and tongue-in-cheek humor are distinctly and undeniably their own. Praised by American Songwriter for their “mind-bending musicality,” moe. is treasured for their mesmerizing musical synergy, unfettered showmanship, and smart, resonant songcraft.

The band is gearing up for a three-night run at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO from November 4-6, as they navigate the recovery of guitarist Chuck Garvey, who suffered a stroke last year. Michael “Suke” Cerulo from Schleigho will be subbing in for Chuck, alongside keyboardist Nate Wilson from Percy Hill and Assembly of Dust. The shows will also be available to watch via livestream.
