The newly remastered vinyl and CD versions of HEAVEN IS WHENEVER Deluxe Edition collect nine rare and previously unreleased bonus songs as well as liner notes by Drive-By Truckers co-founding singer-songwriter-guitarist Patterson Hood. Produced by longtime collaborator Dean Baltulonis, HEAVEN IS WHENEVER marked the band’s first following the temporary departure of keyboardist Franz Nicolay. Fueled by such singles as “Hurricane J,” “Rock Problems,” “The Weekenders,” and “Barely Breathing,” the album made a top 5 debut on Billboard’s “Top Alternative Albums” chart and a top 10 debut on “Top Rock Albums” upon its May 4, 2010 release while also entering the overall SoundScan/Billboard 200 at #26 – the Hold Steady’s highest chart position thus far.

“Everyone seems to have an opinion about our fifth album,” say The Hold Steady. “Here in 2020, we’re very proud of HEAVEN IS WHENEVER. It’s the sound of a band pushing through difficult times by making music about that very struggle. It acknowledges suffering as part of human life. And with all the extra songs that we recorded beyond the album tracks, it’s a testament to the band’s willingness to show up and try to work through uncertainty. Happy 10 years to HEAVEN IS WHENEVER!”
