Aaron Lee Tasjan’s Silver Tears has emerged as a standout album of 2016 with year-end accolades that include NPR Music’s “Best 50 Albums of 2016,” American Songwriter’s “Top 50 Albums of 2016,” Rolling Stone‘s “10 Best Country Videos of 2016,” Nashville Scene‘s “Top Local Albums of 2016,” The Tennessean‘s “12 Nashville records you should have picked up in 2016,” The Boot’s “Top 10 Americana, Alt-Country and Folk Albums of 2016,” and Glide Magazine’s “20 Best Albums of 2016.” NPR Music calls the album “an embarrassment of riches in one musical package,” while The Tennessean applauds it as “one of the best country releases of the year.” American Songwriter adds, “…a freewheeling locomotive of an LP that drives through varied palates and sonic shapes all formed under his unique brand of imaginative, illustrative quirk that never trades silly for smart. Like John Prine before him, there are equal parts humor and humanism in songs like ‘12 Bar Blues,’ ‘Dime’ and ‘Hard Life,’ which are as fun as they are insightful – and packed with melodic hooks to boot. Buckle up.”
In celebration of Silver Tears, Tasjan is currently touring with legendary singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams, which will be followed by dates throughout Europe that include an appearance in Glasgow, Scotland with breakout Americana artist Margo Price. Tasjan will return to the states for his debut television appearance on Conan on February 9 before joining Shovels & Rope for a hometown performance at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on February 18 and then embarking on the Cayamo Cruise. After returning from sea, Tasjan will join St. Paul & the Broken Bones for an eight show run starting in St. Louis, MO on March 1 and then appears at Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion on March 16 in Austin, TX. Tasjan’s Spring headlining tour will begin in Washington, DC on March 21 and continue throughout Eastern and Central U.S. until he kicks off festival season with an appearance at Shovels & Rope’s first annual High Water FestivalApril 22-23 in Charleston, SC. Tasjan’s many upcoming festival appearances also include Stagecoach, Bonnaroo, and Forecastle. Please see below for full tour details.
Silver Tears careens from pot paeans to brooding, cinematic observations to laid back ‘70s country-rock and introspective folk. The Wall Street Journal explains, “It certainly would seem unlikely for a singer-songwriter and guitar prodigy to have had a career arc that’s taken him from the arena-filling, urban-glam rock band the Semi Precious Weapons and a stint with the latter-day New York Dolls into Tom Petty-influenced roots rock and sly, observant acoustic Americana balladry, becoming a leading light of the burgeoning East Nashville music scene in the process. But that’s the versatile and gifted Aaron Lee Tasjan’s singular story.”
