AMERICAN LOVE SONG, the first new album in four years by award-winning singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham, is out today via Axster Bingham Records. The highly anticipated follow-up to 2015’s FEAR AND SATURDAY NIGHT is co-produced by renowned guitarist Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan). The LP was recorded at Arlyn Studios and Public Hi-Fi in Austin, TX with additional recording at Matter Music in Los Angeles.

Among the album’s early acclaim, Rolling Stone Country has called it Bingham’s “most personal and political album to date” and “a rolling-blues country workout awash in slide guitar, soaring gospel-roadhouse stomps and meditative folk fingerpicking that takes on his past with a cautious hope for the future.” American Songwriter rated it 4 out of 5 stars, stating the album’s overarching theme “encompasses triumph and tragedy from one moment to the next.”

The new album finds Bingham honing his creativity on two distinct levels, the personal and the cultural. From the opening track – the spirited “Jingle and Go,” which recounts his early years as an itinerant open-mic performer working, like the great Texas bluesmen before him, for tips – to the closer, “Blues Lady,” a tribute to Bingham’s own late mother, and all the other strong women this country has produced, the album combines autobiographical reflection with a bittersweet celebration of our collective spirit in the face of enduring difficulties.

There are songs for his wife Anna. “Pontiac” brings a Stones-y crunch to the tale of their meeting and the wild early years they spent on the road together. “Lover Girl,” which features a sweet steel guitar, reveals a more tender side of their relationship: “The scars upon my heart won’t hide, but now I found your sparklin’ eyes.” Musically, “Situation Station” is built on a comfortable lope and a few bright chords. But that’s deceiving. The song is the first of several on the album that take a hard line on the state of the nation, with a scathing verse about a leader “ridin’ on the back of the poor man, selling them lies.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Bingham will kick off the North American leg of his full band tour on March 19 in Salt Lake City, with several dates already sold out. Bingham & Co. will also head across the pond to Europe with performances scheduled in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands through June. A complete list of tour dates and ticket information are available on http://www.ryanbingham.com/tour.

Bingham is also headlining and curating his own unique music festival titled “The Western,” presented in partnership with Live Nation. The festival will take place April 12-13 at the iconic Luckenbach TX and will see performances across two stages with Old 97s, Colter Wall, Jamestown Revival, The Wild Feathers, and The Americans are confirmed. An exclusive and already sold-out “Campfire Jam,” the evening before the main festival event will feature an acoustic song-swap performance with Bingham, following an exclusive seated BBQ dinner.
