The Lumineers to Perform at Leonard Cohen Tribute & Tour Dates Announced

The Lumineers will end 2017 by playing a tribute to concert for Leonard Cohen at the Bell Centre in Montreal on November 6, before finishing out the year with tour dates. The band will be joining a lineup that includes Philip Glass, Lana Del Rey, Feist, and K.D. Lang, honoring the late singer in his hometown at a concert put together by his family.

The Lumineers’ single “Angela,” from their certified Gold album Cleopatra, recently entered the top ten on radio’s alternative chart, following “Ophelia” and the title track “Cleopatra,” both of which reached #1 on the charts.

The Lumineers’ last few months have been loaded with special appearances and honors. On September 12 they appeared at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., performing Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” for an event celebrating filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick’s haunting documentary “The Vietnam War.”

A few days later in Nashville the band were presented plaques by BMI and their label Dualtone, honoring the successes of their 3x certified Platinum eponymous debut album and certified Gold follow-up album Cleopatra. In addition, three platinum singles – “Ho Hey,” “Stubborn Love,” and “Ophelia” – and two Gold singles – “Flowers in Your Hair” and “Cleopatra” – were recognized. The ceremony concluded with a special surprise: a proclamation declaring September 14, 2017 “The Lumineers Day” in Nashville signed by Mayor Megan Barry.

In September, the Lumineers played the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park on a bill that included Stevie Wonder, Green Day and The Killers.

In the summer they had an opening slot for U2 on their stadium tour in the United States and a few dates with one of their heroes, Tom Petty, who they first met when they performed his song “Walls” at the MusiCares event honoring Petty as the organizations person of the year.
