Warner Bros. Records Announce Vinyl Releases from Prince, Neil Young, The Flaming Lips, Tegan and Sara, Gary Clark Jr., Red Hot Chili Peppers, and More

April 18, 2017 (Burbank, CA) – This Saturday, April 22, is the 10th Anniversary of Record Store Day. WBR – an official sponsor of RSD – is very pleased to release a wonderment of delicious ear-treasures pressed on 7″ and 12″ vinyl. These aural delights will be available at thousands of independently-owned record stores in the U.S. and around the globe. To add to the excitement of the day, many Warner Bros. Records artists have special events planned around the country especially for Record Store Day supporters. Ourvinyl exclusives and special events for this Saturday are as follows:

Allen Toussaint: The Allen Toussaint Collection; 2-LP set. Limited to 1,500.
This 2-LP, 3-sided album compiles tracks from Allen Toussaint’s first four albums, From A Whisper To A Scream; Life, Love And Faith; Southern Nights; and Motion for the first time on vinyl. Side 4 features an etching of an Allen quote: “One of the greatest greatest hits albums of ’70s soul, funk, and R&B.” – All Music Guide

Banks and Steelz: “Wild Season”/”Daze”; 7″ Black Vinyl Single. Limited to 3,000.
Two-track 7″ single in a picture sleeve includes “Wild Season” featuring Florence Welch b/w the unreleased track “Daze.”

Brandy Clark: Live From Los Angeles; 12″; Black Vinyl LP. Limited to 2,500.
Previously unreleased live recording from an intimate acoustic show at Los Angeles’ Hotel Café featuring 11 songs spanning both critically-acclaimed albums, 12 Stories and Big Day In A Small Town. The limited vinyl includes the GRAMMY-nominated “Hold My Hand” and “Love Can Go To Hell,” the never-before-released “When I Get To Drinkin,” as well as the pensive “Since You’ve Gone To Heaven,” which Clark penned in her father’s memory.
*EVENT: Brandy Clark will sign and perform at Soundgarden Records in Baltimore, MD at 7:00 p.m.

Dylan Gardner/The Flamin’ Groovies “Shake Some Action”; 7″ Red/Blue Swirl Vinyl Single Limited to 1,500.
This installation of Warner Bros. Records’ Side By Side Series – where an artist covers another one of our artists side by side – features Dylan Gardner’s take on The Flamin’ Groovies power-pop classic “Shake Some Action” with The Groovies original on the flip.

Emmylou Harris: Queen of the Silver Dollar; The Studio Albums 1975 – 1979; Limited to 1,000.
Emmylou’s first five studio albums: Pieces of The Sky, Elite Hotel, Luxury Liner, Quarter Moon In A Ten Cent Town, and Blue Kentucky Girl. Contains a bonus 45 RPM of “Light Of The Stable” b/w “Little Drummer Boy.”

Flaming Lips: On Board The International Space Station – Concert for Peace; 12″ Orange Vinyl LP. Limited to 3,000.
Previously unreleased album featuring seven live(ish) tracks: “How??,” “Do Glowy,” “Listening To The Frogs with Demon Eyes,” “Nigdy Nie (Never No),” “The Castle,” “There Should Be Unicorns,” and “We A Famly” from Oczy Mlody reimagined as a fictional/fantastical live Flaming Lips performance on the International Space Station…and why not?

Gary Clark Jr. / Kaleo: “When My Train Pulls In” / “All The Pretty Girls”; 7″ Red Vinyl Single in Picture Sleeve. Limited to 500.
A smoking-hot rendition by Gary Clark Jr. and his band; this ultra-live version captures all the intensity and excitement of being in Studio C on KBCO. Kaleo also performs live from Studio C on KBCO. (Available only in Denver)

Gerard Way: “Into The Cave We Wander” / “Pogi’s Cavern”; 12″ Picture Disc in Clear Vinyl Sleeve. Limited to 5,000.
Two new recordings from Gerard Way have been written to go with the comic book series CAVE CARSON HAS A CYBERNETIC EYE from DC’s Young Animal pop-up imprint. The 12″ picture disc comes in a clear vinyl sleeve and includes the following: a 32-page comic featuring an all-new three-page story by Gerard Way and Michael Allred; previews of four DC’s Young Animal comics-DOOM PATROL, SHADE, THE CHANGING GIRL, CAVE CARSON HAS A CYBERNETIC EYE and MOTHER PANIC; and a 11″x 17″ poster featuring characters from each of the series, drawn by Nick Derington. The songs were written and recorded with Ray Toro and produced by Doug McKean, Ray Toro and Gerard Way.

Five vinyl disc box set features the first five studio albums including their first album, Goo Goo Dolls, on vinyl for the first time since 1987; Jed, forthe first time ever on vinyl; Hold Me Up for thefirst time on vinyl domestically; Superstar Car Wash for thefirst time ever on vinyl and A Boy Named Goo.

The Head and The Heart: Stinson Beach Sessions; 12″ Black Vinyl LP. Limited to 5,000, individually numbered.
Features previously unreleased demos from the band’s current album, Signs of Light, and demos of never before released tracks “No Guarantees,” “In The Summertime,” and “Bluebird.”

*EVENT: Mastodon will sign copies of their new album Emperor of Sand at Zia Records 4225 S. Eastern Ave location in Las Vegas, NV. at 4:00 p.m.
Mind Of A Genius (Various) – 10-Song Vinyl Sampler on 12″ Black Vinyl LP. Limited to 3,000.
Sampler of songs from the Mind Of A Genius label. Features Zhu’s “As Crazy As It Is” and “Cocaine Model,” Gallant’s “Miyazaki” and “Bourbon” and THEY.’s “Deep End” on Side A. THEY.’s “Back It Up,” Klangstof’s “Sleaze” and “Hostage,” and Kwaye’s “Sweetest Life” and “Little Ones” are on Side B. Both of Kwaye’s tracks are previously unreleased.

Neil Young: Decade; 3-LP Black Vinyl Set. Limited to 5,000.
Long out of print, this 3-LP set features remastered repertoire from Neil’s first ten years, including Neil Young solo and with Crazy Horse, Buffalo Springfield, CSNY and the Stills-Young Band.
Contains two Henry Diltz photo reproductions.

Red Hot Chili Peppers: “Go Robot”/”Dreams of a Samurai”; 12″ Picture Disc. Limited to 5,000.
This 12″ Picture Disc features live unreleased versions of two tracks from the band’s 2016 album The Getaway and comes in a clear vinyl sleeve.

The Shelters: “Really Wanted You” / “Get Out”; 7″ black vinyl in picture sleeve. Limited to 3,000.
“Really Wanted You” and “So Get Out” are two of The Shelters’ favorite cover songs, which are often included in the band’s live concert performances, but have previously not been recorded, mixed & mastered until now through this exclusive Record Store Day 7″. “Really Wanted You” was written and originally performed by Emitt Rhodes and “So Get Out” by Ronald Lee Wilson and Jim Pash and originally performed by The Surfaris.

Steve Earle: “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way” (live)/”Fixin To Die” (live); 7″ Black Vinyl Single, Picture Sleeve. Limited to 3,000.
A two-song single featuring Earle performing live versions of Waylon Jennings’ “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way” and his own “Fixin to Die.”

Sara and Tegan: Under Feet Like Ours; Limited to 5,000.
Debut album from “Sara and Tegan,” the duo’s original moniker, released for the first time on 140g vinyl.

Tegan and Sara/The Regrettes: “Back In Your Head”; 7″ Light Blue & Gold Vinyl Single. Limited to 3,000. A classic track from their Tegan and Sara’s 2007 album, The Con, covered by The Regrettes features the original and backed with the original .

Various Artists – Just Say Sire: Sire Records 50th Anniversary Box Set; Limited to 2,500.
A 4-LP limited edition, numbered box set exclusive that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the legendary and influential Sire Records label, co-founded in 1967 by Seymour Stein. The compilation spans the years 1969 to 1995, and features 46 artists. It includes early releases from Climax Blues Band and the label’s first #1 hit – “Hocus Pocus” by Dutch band Focus, plus all the key artists from Sire’s amazing history: Madonna, Talking Heads, The Ramones, the Smiths, The Pretenders, Depeche Mode, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cult, Ice T, k.d. lang, Seal, The Replacements, Wilco; the list goes on and on.

This Side by Side release features Wilding’s cover of the Talking Head’s classic song “This Must Be The Place” backed with the original recording.
