LOS ANGELES, CA October 4, 2016 -Tickets for The Lumineers’ first-ever arena tour are proving to be a hot commodity. Their February 2 show at Madison Square Garden sold out during its first day on-sale this past Saturday, October 1st.
Singer Wesley Schultz, a New Jersey native, posted on the band’s website that playing Madison Square Garden holds a special place for him: “I remember going to see the White Stripes and Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band and Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) and Bob Dylan – I saw all of them play at the Garden – Madison Square Garden. It’s with a mix of excitement and disbelief to say we have sold out our own MSG show in a single day! It’s truly humbling, going from living rooms to arenas… and I just feel grateful to get to do all this, regardless of the size of a show. We have fought to do things our own way and this will be no different – so thank you, the fans and friends, for all of your support – and we will see you out there on the road soon!”
As thrilling as playing Madison Square Garden is, their appearance yesterday proved to be another career highlight: they performed on the White House’s South Lawn as part of the SXSLawn festival. President Obama himself has been a supporter of The Lumineers and he included the band’s “Stubborn Love” on his Spotify playlist last year.
The band heads to the West coast tomorrow to play a sold-out show at Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Bowl (17,500 capacity).
The Madison Square Garden show was the first show of the arena tour for which tickets have gone on sale. Tickets for other shows on the tour will be released for sale in the coming days and weeks. For more information on local on-sale dates please go to www.TheLumineers.com.
