Langhorne Slim and The Law will release a special, two-song, seven-inch vinyl disc titled “Animal” this Saturday, April 19, limited to only 1000 copies and exclusively for Record Store Day. “Animal” will carry a $6.98 list price.
“Thank goodness for independent record stores,” said Langhorne. “It was Princeton Record Exchange in NJ that saved me from the music shops in the mall when I was a kid. And countless others around the country and world that have fed and nurtured my love and passion for music as a fan and provided me the ability to get my own stuff out there as an artist. A thousand thank yous to all the indie record shops and may you live on forever!!”
“Animal” was originally written for a 30-second Converse X Foot Locker advertising spot titled “Made To Make A Scene.” In less than a month, the ad became a YouTube sensation with nearly two-million views. The song opens with jangly and up-beat guitar strumming, but quickly explodes into a cacophony of loud, fast, punk-rock with Langhorne’s scrappy vocals front and center. The “Animal” RSD vinyl will come with a download card that includes a link to “Animal” as well as a link to an exclusive new music video for the song that was recently shot while the band was on tour, and accessible only with the purchase of the vinyl.
“Animal’s” B-side is a new, previously unreleased Langhorne Slim song called “Space Girl.” Written by Langhorne, the band describes the song as “an improvised, psychedelic excursion recorded in a backyard in Texas.”
If your local independent record store is sold out of “Animal” by the time you get there, you can catch Langhorne Slim and The Law out on the road, touring with The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell and Deer Tick, along with some headline shows – the confirmed itinerary is below.
