The Nate Jones Band EP is the debut release from Nate Jones, a young singer/songwriter who carves his folky, soulful sound from the same bedrock as Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Stephen Stills.

Jones is a troubadour in the old-school tradition.  A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he launched his music career while attending college in New Orleans. The town left its swampy mark on Jones, who became a regular performer at venues like Tipitina’s and Howlin’ Wolf Club, where he spiked his coffeehouse folk songs with soulful vocal melodies and intricate, funky fretwork on the acoustic guitar. After growing his following with club dates across the country, he returned to Cleveland and teamed up with pop producer Dave Douglas (former drummer and founding member of the Grammy-nominated pop-punk band Relient K). Together, they recorded The Nate Jones Band EP, a five-song collection of songs that brim with Hammond organ, bluesy guitar solos, and the breezy charm of Jones’ voice.

To soak up inspiration from the same state that nurtured some of his biggest influences, Jones recently relocated to San Francisco. Still, he’s a traveler at heart — just listen to the EP’s lead single, “Another Night, Another Town,” where he sings about maintaining a relationship at home while still being on the road — and he plans on promoting this record the old-fashioned way: by hitting the highway.
