The Forecastle Festival, Louisville’s three-day festival celebrating the best in music, art and environmental activism, has announced the dates for 2014. The 3-day event will take place July 18-20 at Louisville’s Waterfront Park.
This year’s dates will coincide with the birthday of Kentucky’s native son, Hunter S. Thompson, who was born in Louisville on July 18, 1937.
“As Hunter S. Thompson said ‘buy the ticket, take the ride,” said Forecastle Founder JK McKnight. “We have much in store to make next year’s festival a ride to remember”
Specially priced hotel room rates are now available through ForecastleFest.com.
An exclusive pre-sale, as well as travel packages with the Brown Hotel, Seelbach Hiton and Courtyard Marriott Downtown, will be available in late 2013. The festival lineup, and more exciting details, will be revealed early next year.
Forecastle is held at Louisville’s scenic, 85-acre Waterfront Park. Since 2002, the Festival has featured over 500 bands, 100 artists, and 150 environmental and outdoor recreational organizations. Previous musical guests include The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, Wilco, The Flaming Lips, The Smashing Pumpkins, Widespread Panic, The Avett Brothers, Pretty Lights, Sleigh Bells, Spoon, DEVO, Band of Horses, She & Him, Big Boi, Girl Talk, A-Trak, Sleater-Kinney, Umphrey’s McGee and many more.
