Brooklyn’s Red Baraat debuts at #1 on Billboard’s World Music chart this week with their new album Shruggy Ji. The album was also #1 on the iTunes World Music Chart during week of release with previously released albums by the band simultaneously occupying the #2 and #9 spots.
Red Baraat’s current U.S. tour will see the band travel the entire country and includes headlining shows at NY’s Bowery Ballroom and Boston’s The Sinclair, both of which have sold out in advance.
Red Baraat will also bring their wild, brass-infused bhangra sound to New Orleans in February accepting an invite from Galactic to be a very special guest on their epic Lundi Gras show (an annual favorite) at Tipitina’s Feb 11. The following day Red Baraat will join a special second line parade escorting Big Chief on Mardis Gras that will culminate in a showdown with the legendary Mardis Gras Indian Orchestra at the Hi-Ho Lounge. Red Baraat will also perform on additional stages during Mardis Gras including a Feb 10 show at Blue Nile. A full slate of West Coast and Midwest dates will carry the band to their highly anticipated first appearance at SXSW.
