Jazz guitar wizard Stanley Jordan will join Umphrey’s McGee at their inaugural sUMmer school music camp, which gives fans the chance to explore the inner workings of the “most innovative improvising rock group” (Relix). The camp will take place August 6-10, 2012 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY. Jordan, a fellow Chicagoan who has performed with artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, and Benny Carter, will participate in a guitar workshop, conduct a session of his own, and perform as a special guest at the camp’s closing concert.
sUMmer school will offer musicians and music lovers of all ages and backgrounds an opportunity to explore the music, minds, and inner workings of Umphrey’s McGee. sUMmer schoolers will join the band, management, and crew for performances, workshops, and other group activities within 80,000 acres of the Catskills. The camp showcases why Relix said, “if you desire more transparency, interaction, and face-time with your rock idols, then Umphrey’s McGee is definitely the band for you.”
