Nashville, Tenn. – March 7, 2012 – The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation (MPCF), a national nonprofit organization offering FREE and compassionate support, education and one-on-one guidance to adults facing cancer, announced today the return of Hats Across the Row. The event, which will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 3 p.m. on Nashville’s famed Music Row, launches a year of celebration for The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation. In addition to celebrating Minnie Pearl’s 100th birthday, the organization is celebrating 25 years of service.
Hats Across the Row will include a parade down Music Row (16th & 17th Ave S) featuring Kerry Collins and his motorcycle gang, Hillwood High School Marching Band, antique Mini Coopers, and an array of stilt walkers, hula hoopers and Minnie Pearl look-a-likes and more. Festivities will conclude with a party at Major Bob Music (1111 17th Avenue South).
Music Row businesses can show their support for The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation leading up to Hats Across the Row by placing signs in front of their business. Signs are available for a $50 donation at www.minniepearl.org/events/upcoming_events/hats_across_the_row.
“With this event we honor the iconic Minnie Pearl, but we also recognize the connection between Nashville’s music industry and The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation and the impact cancer has had on the lives of so many along the Row,” says Susan Earl Hosbach, Executive Director of MPCF. “Minnie created a community around cancer and our hope is this event can bring some of that community together for an afternoon of fun on Music Row while also raising awareness for our organization and mission to create a more confident cancer journey for adults impacted by cancer, anywhere.”
Along with this kick-off celebration, the MPCF is continuing to collect “Minnie Moments.” The campaign features stories from the clients, survivors and caregivers who have used MPCF’s services and know the organization’s unique and compassionate guidance, as well as memories from celebrities and fans of Minnie Pearl.
