New York, NY – BRIT Award nominated James Morrison is gearing up for his first US headlining tour in support of his latest International chart topping platinum album release The Awakening – out now on Universal Republic. The tour kicks off on April 29th at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle and hits a number of major US cities including Los Angeles, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington DC, before wrapping on May 19th at the Royale in Boston.
The Awakening is Morrison’s third full-length studio and debuted at #1 in the UK where it spent two weeks and has since been certified platinum. The album has sold more then 1 million copies worldwide and has produced several hits including “I Won’t Let You Go,” the first US single. Already a smash around the world topping the radio charts in the UK, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland, “I Won’t Let You Go,” is currently making its way up the US radio charts. In addition, the accompanying music video has had more then 19 million views.
The Awakening has not only enjoyed sales and radio success, it’s been garnering stellar reviews including Billboard saying “Brit singer James Morrison turns personal loss into a No. 1 album” and People writing, “America has yet to wake up and take notice of this Brit, whose latest hit No. 1 in the U.K. Showcasing his soulful, sandpapery voice, songs like ‘Person I Should Have Been’ deserve attention.” USA Today wrote about “I Won’t Let You Go” saying, “The soul-influenced British singer hasn’t really clicked in the States yet, but this ballad could make you wonder why.”
On a recent visit to the States in January 2012, Morrison gave the performance of a lifetime on The Today Show. The response was phenomenal and had Billboard.biz noting, “The British singer dropped by NBC’s ‘Today’ show on Jan. 17, and in turn, his performance yields a 661% sales jump for his ‘The Awakening’ album.” Now US fans will have a chance to see what all the fuss is about.
