Umphrey’s McGee, “one of the most talented experimental rock acts in the market” (Denver Post), will take their explosive live show throughout the US on a winter/spring tour, kicking off February 2 in Minneapolis, MN. The tour includes stops in Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Portland, and a two-night stand in Aspen.
These new dates come on the heels of Umphrey’s latest album, ‘Death By Stereo’ (ATO), which was lauded as “genre-defying” (Relix) and “an eclectic mix of solidly-crafted songs” (All Music Guide). The album features current single “Booth Love,” which the LA Times praised as a “mélange of thick bass, ghostly synth and succinct soul vocals recalls a bit of disco-era Marvin Gaye” and “a hint of Radiohead.”
The perpetually inventive Umphrey’s have also announced sUMmer school, a five-day summer music camp in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. The inaugural sUMmer school, which will take place August 6-10, 2012 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY, will offer musicians and music lovers of all ages and background an opportunity to explore the music, minds, and inner workings of Umphrey’s McGee. sUMmer schoolers will join the band, management, and crew for performances, workshops, and other group activities within 80,000 acres of the Catskills.
