April 21, 2011 Boston, MA – On September 24-25, The Life is good Festival will return to Prowse Farm in Canton, MA, a suburb of Boston, at the base of the Blue Hills. The festival is hosted by Life is good®, a Boston-based company that spreads the power of optimism through its colorful collection of apparel and accessories and through its social mission to help kids overcome life-threatening challenges. Once again, the two-day fundraising music festival aims to raise $1 million to benefit the Life is good Playmakers, the action arm of The Life is good Kids Foundation. Like last year, it will feature two days of nationally known musical talent on three stages, including several of today’s most popular children’s performers. The artist line-up will be announced in June.
While the festival features great music, an array of games and activities, diverse local food, and hands-on art projects, the goal of the weekend is to create a community of fundraisers. Each attendee will be directed to a personal fundraising page that supports The Life is good Playmakers. Festival-goers who raise $500 or more for The Life is good Playmakers will be rewarded with exclusive backstage hospitality, preferred concert viewing, artist meet and greets and other prizes. These fundraisers will be called VGP’s – Very Good People – and will have a truly amazing concert experience.
In 2010, 30,000 people of all ages embraced Life is good’s message of optimism by enjoying a diverse mix of performances. From Jason Mraz, Ben Harper, Corinne Bailey Rae, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Ziggy Marley, Guster and more, to kid-friendly sets from The Laurie Berkner Band, Dane Zanes & Friends and They Might Be Giants. The Life is good Festival created a one-of-a-kind musical event.
“The 2010 Life is good Festival was an incredible success – raising awareness and much needed funds to help kids,” said Bert Jacobs, Life is good co-founder and Chief Executive Optimist. “Because we believe that good vibes can save lives, we are bringing the Life is good Festival back to Prowse Farm. This year, we are focused on the power of optimism and look forward to every participant engaging in the fundraising effort to help kids in need.”
In addition to attendee fundraising, 100% of profits from ticket sales, sponsors and onsite merchandise sales will benefit The Life is good Playmakers, which provides training and support to child care professionals dedicated to helping kids overcome life-threatening challenges, including violence, illness and extreme poverty.
To ensure a top-quality festival experience, Life is good has once again partnered with Superfly Presents, the nationally-recognized producers of the iconic Bonnaroo and Outside Lands festivals. With significant expertise in producing festivals and integrating brand partnerships, Superfly is a natural fit for the Life is good Festival.
“In 2010, we worked with Life is good to create a unique festival that resonated with a wide variety of audiences, while spreading a message of optimism,” said Rick Farman, co-founder of Superfly Presents. “We set a new bar for family entertainment and we look forward to creating something even more important this year.”
The festival will take place at historic Prowse Farm in Canton, a 44-acre property managed by the Friends of Prowse Farm, a non-profit volunteer organization. The property is located at the gateway of the Blue Hills Reservation, public parkland that has been set aside for recreational use. Prowse Farm is fully accessible via public transportation, with all-day shuttles to and from the nearby Rte. 128/University Avenue train station. A large number of free parking spots are also available.
