Folk Alliance International Announces 2017 Official Showcase Artists

Folk Alliance International (FAI) is proud to announce the Official Showcase artists for the 29th annual conference. FAI’s 200 Official Showcases are jury-selected nightly concerts featuring emerging artists and touring legends from around the world who perform for 2500 delegates including hundreds of festivals and venues, media, and music industry.
This year’s selections represent an exciting array of folk genres from across the US, Canada, and 15 additional countries representing Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Global Roots, Indigenous, Indie-Folk, Old-Time, Traditional, and Singer-Songwriters.

“Folk Alliance is the place to be as a festival or venue buyer if you have an audience that yearns for a sense of discovery and the best emerging artists,” says Chris Frayer, Artistic Director of the Winnipeg Folk Festival.
FAI’s Official Showcases are 30 minutes in length and are held concurrently on full production stages in nine ballrooms throughout the host hotel over four nights.
Anya Siglin, Program Director at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival and legendary venue The Ark states, “Every year the official showcases provide bookers the opportunity to see inspiring performances and hear new music we are excited to bring back to our communities.”
Past conferences have featured numerous breakthrough artists including Nickel Creek, Rhiannon Giddens, The Milk Carton Kids, Rose Cousins, Dom Flemons, Anais Mitchell, and We Banjo 3. Past showcases have also included luminary artists Judy Collins, Bela Fleck, Rita Coolidge, Ron Sexsmith, Archie Fisher, and Peggy Seeger.
The 29th annual Folk Alliance International Conference will be held February 15-19, 2017, at the Westin Hotel Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri and features a Keynote Presentation by Billy Bragg, an Awards Show, Music Camp, and the 2nd annual Kansas City Folk Festival.
