Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Presents and Starr Hill presents, in a partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, have announced the dynamic new lineup for the seventh annual Outside Lands Festival. After three consecutive sold-out years, the world’s only gourmet music festival that Rolling Stone called “remarkable,” and “one of America’s best,” will once again take place in San Francisco’s historic Golden Gate Park August 8 – 10, 2014. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday, April 10, at 10am PDT via www.sfoutsidelands.com. A significant portion of every ticket sold will directly benefit San Francisco’s Recreation and Park Department.

Now in its seventh year, Outside Lands has officially emerged to become one of the most revered and prominent festivals in the country. The local and national media have been universally praising the event for many years and last year was no different, as the SF Chronicle called Outside Lands an “enormous success,” the Examiner hailed that it is “a must attend festival for any Northern California (or even Western United States) music fanatic,” and 7×7 said it was their “favorite music festival of all time.” Stereogum enthused, “Between music, comedy, food and artwork, Outside Lands really is one of the more interesting American summer festivals,” while the Hollywood Reporter said that the “eclectic mix of artists, DJs, comedians and bands stayed true to its Bay Area roots.”

Consistently outstanding live music combined with the exceptional majesty of its Golden Gate Park surroundings and the finest food and drink found at any festival has elevated Outside Lands’ stature and cemented its reputation as a highly acclaimed global destination for entertainment lovers everywhere. As with all the great Outside Lands lineups of the past six years, the 2014 music lineup is determinedly diverse by design. From legends and current massive hit makers like Kanye West, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (back by popular demand and the first-ever performer to headline twice at the festival), The Killers, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (who first played the festival several years ago, before they were superstars), Arctic Monkeys, The Flaming Lips, Tegan & Sara and Haim, to indie darlings like Spoon, Chromeo, Lykke Li, Local Natives, Phosphorescent, Warpaint and Deer Tick, to electronic powerhouses like Tiësto, Disclosure, Cut Copy, Duck Sauce, SBTRKT and Holy Ghost!, to hip hops’ Atmosphere and Run the Jewels (El-P & Killer Mike), to newcomers on the rise like Ben Howard, Capital Cities, Chvrches, Grouplove, Jagwar Ma, Courtney Barnett, Bear Hands to some of the best local Bay Area artists such as Tycho, Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, Christopher Owens, Watsky, Mikal Cronin, The Brothers Comatose, Tumbleweed Wanderers, Finish Ticket, Trails and Ways and more, Outside Lands has developed into a vortex of vast music exploration. As Mother Jones magazine noticed in 2013, “Outside Lands is as much about showcasing up-and-coming bands – and their colorful fans, of course – as it is about the stars.”

Taking its well-earned reputation as the world’s only gourmet music festival seriously, in 2014, Outside Lands will once again have incomparable food and drink experiences to offer its patrons. Between the festival’s unique regions – A Taste of the Bay Area, Wine Lands, Beer Lands, Choco Lands and back for its second year, an expanded Cheese Lands – ticketholders will find more than 200 food and drink options, each epitomizing why Northern California’s culinary scene is among the world’s best. So vibrant is the culinary experience each year that Rolling Stone proclaimed, “At Outside Lands food and wine are half the fun,” and the Huffington Post reported, “Unlike, well, every other music festival in the country, the culinary offerings at Outside Lands are truly spectacular.”

The 2014 Outside Lands food and drink lineup is forthcoming later this spring.

Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival has become a cherished event that the city of San Francisco has embraced as fans from across the country flock to spend an incomparable weekend in one of America’s greatest parks. Each year, festival organizers ensure that every facet of the event highlights the Bay Area and all of the components that make it one of the most desirable places to live and visit. They also like to the say thank you to the city and the local communities surrounding the park by giving back in substantial ways. In its first six years, Outside Lands has raised over $8.3 million for the benefit of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. Based on a 2011 economic study, it is estimated that the festival generates over $70 million annually to the San Francisco economy.
