The Wood Brothers — “more dynamic than ever” (Paste) — will perform across the U.S. this fall in support of their new album, ‘The Muse,’ out October 1st on Southern Ground Artists. Beginning in late August, the 22-date run includes festival appearances — from the Four Corners Folk Festival in Pagosa Springs, CO, to the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in Nashville and Charleston — as well as amphitheater shows in support of Zac Brown Band and headlining theater performances.
The tour finds Chris and Oliver Wood at the height of their “taut musicianship” (L.A. Times), with drummer Jano Rix now a full-time member of the group. The band’s first album as a trio, ‘The Muse’ was produced by country-music legend Buddy Miller at Southern Ground Studios in Nashville. The 11 songs, steeped in blues, funk, soul, R&B and gospel, were recorded mostly live, with Oliver’s gutbucket guitars and “gripping” (The New York Times) vocals rounded out by high-lonesome harmonies, Chris’s virtuosic upright bass and Jano’s kitchen-sink percussion.
