The Breeders have announced additional North American dates for “LSXX,” their celebratory, international reunion tour which kicked off with a sold-out show in Brooklyn on March 29. Just announced is a late-August West Coast swing that includes Seattle’s Bumbershoot festival, and in late September, they will play the Pygmalion Festival in Urbana-Champaign, IL and Cincinnati’s Midpoint Music Festival. The band has also added additional dates in Australia. Tickets for the west coast dates go on sale over the next week – log onto the Breeders’ website for all details.
In addition, the reunited Breeders will make their first late-night television network appearance in twenty years when they guest on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” this Tuesday, May 7. The band will perform two songs from Last Splash – the classic “Cannonball” for broadcast, and “Drivin’ on 9” as a “Fallon” web exclusive.
Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson, the iconic Breeders line up that made the classic 1993 album Last Splash, will be joined by their violinist Carrie Bradley to perform the album live at select shows and festivals in the U.S. and Europe through 2013. The “LSXX Anniversary World Tour” marks the first time this line-up has played together since 1994. The tour is in support of the release of LSXX, a deluxe edition of Last Splash, on 4AD; the three-CD package will be released May 14, while the seven-disc vinyl box set will be out in late May.
