During Live From Out There, Turkuaz dazzled fans to a set of never-before-seen (or heard) Beatles covers, paying homage to a major influence for the nine-piece ensemble. Today, the band shares their performance of “Rain,” the first of many cover songs to be released from the otherwise unreleased set.

For original Turkuaz founders Dave Brandwein and Taylor Shell, The Beatles have always played an influential role in their own artistry. While the band’s first inclination for their Live From Out There set leaned towards an acoustic, intimate performance unlike anything they might usually do, their excitement with The Beatles’ extensive and diverse catalogue led them to dive deeper into their discography. “We wanted to make sure and represent different eras of the catalogue, with some really well known songs, and we also wanted to be sure to do some lesser known ones,” says frontman Brandwein.

According to the band, “Rain” is one of those lesser-known Beatles B-sides, and given the sentiment of the track, also seemed like an appropriate note to start this series off with in these confusing and scary times. Turkuaz adds, “But don’t worry, the sun will be coming out soon.”
