“I’m excited to finally bring back Christmas Jam and continue the tradition we’ve been building for over 30 years,” shares Haynes. “It feels like the perfect time to return to celebrating this wonderful cause (and life in general) and to be helping the community in my beloved home of Asheville. Christmas Jam is always such a special event for me and my family and this year’s lineup is one that is dear to my heart as it brings back some old friends as well as introducing news ones into the fold. Looking forward to being together for an amazing night of music and holiday cheer.”
“W&S Foundation is particularly excited to bring the Christmas Jam back to Asheville this year with such an amazing and exciting lineup,” adds Scamardo. “We are very proud of the work we’ve done in Asheville with Habitat for Humanity over the past two-plus decades and are thrilled to add a new local non-profit partner with BeLoved Asheville to further the mission of providing housing for those in need. There’s still work to be done for the community and we’re honored to play a part in that. The long-awaited return of Christmas Jam is sure to be a special moment for all.”
Curated by Grammy Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, producer and guitar legend Warren Haynes, the Christmas Jam is one of the most celebrated and longest-running live concerts in the U.S. Held each year in Asheville, performing artists, volunteers, and friends from all over the country come together to raise funds for the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. For more than 20 years, proceeds from the Jam have gone towards constructing energy-efficient new homes and helping to pay infrastructure and development costs of entire Habitat neighborhoods. To date, the Jam has raised more than $2.7 million for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, constructing over 40 homes. This year’s Christmas Jam has expanded to also assist BeLoved Asheville. From emergency support for people on the streets and preventing homelessness to rental and ownership units, the Asheville region’s housing needs are greater than ever. Many local agencies work along the housing services spectrum and anchoring the ends of that spectrum are Asheville Area Habitat, providing affordable homeownership and home repairs, and BeLoved Asheville, working with those struggling with housing insecurity. Together, local housing organizations are ensuring more neighbors have a decent place to live.
“Decent and affordable housing is linked to improved health, better educational outcomes, greater financial stability, and stronger social connections. By supporting affordable housing, the Christmas Jam has enabled more local families to thrive, instead of just survive,” shares Andy Barnett, Asheville Area Habitat Executive Director. “Habitat has been uniquely blessed this year. We’re proud to share proceeds of the Christmas Jam with BeLoved Asheville. Working with those facing chronic housing instability, their work is a perfect fit with our vision of a world where everyone has a place to call home.”
“BeLoved Asheville is honored to be a part of the Warren Haynes Christmas Jam this year!” adds Ponkho Bermejo, BeLoved Asheville Co-Director. “This powerful event lifts local people and warms the hearts of many through music. Now more than ever, we need to make the music that brings us together to support our neighbors and connect deeply with each other. Warren Haynes and friends are so gifted at that and we look forward to jamming with them to lift up elders, essential workers, children and families who are struggling, and those who long for a warm and safe place to call home.”
“Xmas Jam By Day” events and concerts will pop up around Asheville and feature special collaborations alongside some of the best local musicians. Attendees will also have the opportunity to give back during the annual “Before The Jam, Lend A Hand” event where fans, staff and artists come together and volunteer to help build the houses made possible by Christmas Jam donations.
