Today, Gillian Welch announces the release of Boots No. 2: The Lost Songs, Vol. 2 via Acony Records on September 18th. Vol. 2 is the second installment of the newly unearthed and celebrated cache of home demos and reel-to-reel recordings from the vault of Welch and Rawlings and was recorded between the making of Time (The Revelator) and Soul Journey.
Welch today also shares the first two songs from the Boots No. 2: The Lost Songs, Vol. 2, “Beautiful Boy” And “I Just Want You To Know,” listen here.
Volume 1 was released on July 31, and Pitchfork says “this archival trove cements the singer-songwriter and her steadfast partner, David Rawlings, as modern masters of American folk.” Volume 3 will follow in the coming months.
