Luck Productions is proud to announce the return of their annual PotLuck event on March 18th in Luck, TX. Held on the eve of Luck Reunion, PotLuck redefines what it means to have a cookout in the Hill Country, gathering artists, culinary connoisseurs, and music lovers at Willie Nelson’s storied Luck, TX, property for an intimate dinner followed by a very special backyard performance from Willie Nelson. “Luck is all about community, and we feel nothing represents community more than breaking bread together,” says Luck co-founder Matt Bizer. “We see chefs as part of the core fabric of the community, just like our artists family, and we want the chefs to be a core part of the vision and the why behind everything we do.” Sharing in the mission of keeping things as close to the ground as possible and choosing local whenever possible, Farm Aid and Austin Food & Wine Alliance are this year’s beneficiaries for PotLuck.
The 2020 event will welcome a wide-ranging group of culinary talent, curated by lead Chef Bruce Kalman (BK Hospitality Group, Top Chef season 15 contestant) with help from Luck’s resident foodie Ben Runkle (Salt & Time) to bring their culinary influences to the table with a collaborative multi-course meal.
Kalman, who was born and raised in northern New Jersey, is a James Beard-nominated chef and co-owner of Knead & Co. Pasta Bar + Market in downtown Los Angeles, as well as the chef-founder behind BK Brinery, his artisanal pickle company. “I’m honored to be asked to take the lead and I have assembled an incredibly talented group of chefs,” he says. “This year’s theme is Mediterranean Live Fire which is my favorite way to cook as it lends itself to rustic cooking using locally sourced, indigenous ingredients.”
The “incredibly talented group of chefs” Kalman speaks of includes the following food rockstars:
Pre-dinner, passed bites:
Evan Leroy (Leroy & Lewis, Austin)
Sarah Heard (Foreign & Domestic, Austin)
Jorge Hernandez (Carpenters Hall, The Mighty Union, Austin)
Dinner chefs:
James Trees (Esther’s Kitchen, Las Vegas)
Keris Kuwana (Slanted Door, Las Vegas)
Bryce Gilmore (Barley Swine, Odd Duck, Sour Duck, Austin)
Abby Love (Abby Jane Bakeshop, Austin)
John Tesar (Knife, Dallas)
Steve Snyder, Farm Aid’s Development and Brand Director echoes Kalman’s excitement by saying, “We’re thrilled and thankful to return to Luck as beneficiary of this wonderful event, and to celebrate food sourced directly from family farmers across Central Texas through the culinary skills of these amazing and innovative chefs. This unforgettable feast under the stars on our founder Willie Nelson’s ranch will raise critical funds to further Farm Aid’s mission to cultivate a vibrant, family farm-centered system of agriculture in Texas and across America.”
Tickets will go on sale at 12 PM CST on Thursday, Feb. 13 via www.luckreunion.com. Want to win your way into a Willie Nelson-centric trip to Texas?! Farm Aid has teamed up with Omaze to fly two people to the ranch for a meet and greet with the man himself, tickets to PotLuck and Luck Reunion, a signed guitar, and more. Details and entry here.
