A family-friendly and locally sourced festival, String Summit caps its capacity at 5,000 attendees to ensure an intimate festival weekend for all concertgoers at an incredible ticket price. String Summit event promoter Skye McDonald comments about String Summit 2019, “Horning’s Hideout is such a special festival destination that we’re thrilled to invite all our friends and many core bands for the party year after year. Several will perform on multiple days so they too can properly experience the vibe and, in turn, deliver more magnificent music magic morning, noon and night!”

While the Main Stage Amphitheater will be at full tilt, the Kinfolk Revival Stage returns with daytime artist workshops and late-night sets. The Cascadia Stage, set deep in a wooded hollow, will ramp up to provide music all day Friday – Sunday, and late-night sets after Main Stage acts from Thursday – Saturday.

Northwest String Summit partners with singular Portland organizations, food vendors and emerging Pacific Northwest-based musicians to support the thriving local communities. String Summit exudes fun and activities for the whole family seen by some as the yearly grounds for reunions among close friends and neighbors. Several onsite enhancements are in store to make festivalgoers’ experiences that much better — with or without their kiddos. The “Not For Kid’s Only” Family Area provides a festival within the festival; daily kid-centric workshops, arts & crafts, and music make this place fun for all ages! There are a multitude of offerings for the mind, body and soul with several daily yoga and meditation sessions to help keep you in optimum spirits and the body limber for dancing the night away. Additionally, more artistic and interactive installations are in the works for the 18th Annual event thanks to the exceptional art teams of Tyler Fuqua Creations, Ghost Stag, among others!

Now in its 16th year, the Band Competition, held on Friday, July 19, 2019, attracts some of the hottest up-and-coming acts from across the country. Four bands, or singer/songwriters, will be chosen by a panel of judges to compete for the winning crown. The winner is awarded an opening slot on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at The Cascadia Stage, and an offer for the following year’s festival on the Main Stage. The Band Competition is a single mic only set-up, and only acoustic instruments are allowed (no DIs, no drums). Applications are accepted until April 19, 2019; for more information please visit: stringsummit.com/band-competition

In early summer 2019, Yonder Mountain String Band will announce which band it’ll pay tribute to with its famed electric Saturday night headlining set. Details for the annual Strumitt Dance Party will be announced soon.
