Aaron Lee Tasjan has announced additional tour dates in support of his recently released studio album Karma For Cheap. Met with widespread critical acclaim, Rolling Stone Country called it a “power pop gem” and described it as “Supertramp-sized prog-pop meets Supergrass-worthy slink…this is another reminder that East Nashville’s Cosmic Cowboy rides wherever he damn well pleases,” while the Nashville Scene said “There’s not a wasted second on it. Tasjan creates what may be the greatest power-pop record ever cut in Nashville.” NPR Music called Tasjan “An ace guitarist and affable music history geek,” continuing, “Arrangements touch upon countrypolitan sounds and Twin Peaks-style reveries, all the while returning to the pop-kissed soul of old-time rock and roll.”
Most people know Tasjan as one of the wittiest, most offbeat, weed-smokin’ & LSD microdosin’ Americana troubadours today, and with Karma for Cheap, he follows his restless muse into the kind of glammy, jingle-jangle, power-pop and psych-tinged sounds he hasn’t dabbled in since his younger days playing lead guitar for a late-period New York Dolls. With Karma for Cheap, Tasjan establishes himself as an artist who not only evolves over time, but isn’t afraid to risk reinventing himself from one record to the next. This week, Guitar World Magazine premiered his in-studio performance of “The Truth Is So Hard To Believe” from Karma For Cheap recorded at Trace Horse Studio in Nashville, TN. They call the song a “psychedelia-laced rootsy pop-rocker” and the performance features his stellar live band, who also appear on the studio album. See it HERE.
Recently wrapping up a tour supporting Social Distortion and appearances at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco, CA and the Pilgrimage Music Festival in Nashville, TN, Tasjan has just announced additional touring in support of Karma For Cheap. The new dates launch next week in Huntington Beach, CA and also feature a handful of UK dates in November including an appearance the Take Root Festival alongside Father John Misty, Kurt Vile, and more. Additionally, Tasjan has announced his 2nd Annual TASJAM at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville, TN on December 9th. The evening will feature many very special guests to be announced soon and will benefit the Ben Eyestone Fund at Music Health Alliance and will also be broadcast live via WRLT Lightning 100.
Karma for Cheap is available across digital retailers, on compact disc, standard black vinyl, and limited edition Red & Orange split colored vinyl available at Independent Retailers, and is available for purchase now via NEW WEST RECORDS.
