Guster reveals the video for their new song “Hard Times,” directed by Jon Danovic. In the striking visuals, a melancholy woman drives through a car wash in slow motion, hypnotized by the movement of the suds. Watch via Billboard here: https://bit.ly/2y7mCFT
“Hard Times” maintains the band’s unique charm while charting new sonic pathways, channeling the dark pop of Peter Gabriel and Tears for Fears. “This song, if nothing else, wears its heart on its sleeve,” says frontman Ryan Miller.
Guster surprise released “Hard Times,” along with another new song “Don’t Go,” at their own Guster on the Ocean festival in Portland, ME, in August. Originally intended as a thank you to fans, “Hard Times” is now making waves at radio – KCRW named it their Top Tune on September 18th, saying the track “reminded [us] of Guster’s greatness.”
Produced by Leo Abrahams (Regina Spektor, Brian Eno/David Byrne, Belle and Sebastian), “Hard Times” and “Don’t Go” are the first taste from the band’s upcoming studio album, details of which will be revealed soon.
In addition to the new video, Guster has announced opening acts for their November tour. Zac Clark will be joining the band from November 1st through 10th, and Andrew Duhon will support from November 11th through 15th. Full tour routing below.
