North Carolina’s acclaimed indie-Americana darlings Mipso head back on the road this fall, hitting select markets in the Rocky Mountains and northeast for the first time since the April release of their new album, Edges Run. The tour kicked off last week in Nashville with an official showcase at the 19th annual AMERICANAFEST – which NPR Music highlighted as a “Best of AMERICANAFEST” – and stops in 20 cities over the next two months. The season culminates in early November with a short run of shows in the band’s home region to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the band’s 2013 debut release, Dark Holler Pop. Mipso & Friends: Dark Holler Pop Revisited hosts five shows in North Carolina and Virginia and features very special guests during the run including 10 String Symphony, Chandler Holt (Chatham County Line), Lula Wiles, and Kate Rhudy. Dark Holler Pop is set to be re-released on vinyl this fall in conjunction with the 5th Anniversary Tour. See the complete list of Mipso’s fall tour dates below. Tickets available at www.mipsomusic.com.

Today, Mipso also unveils videos from their recent EP release, D.C. Sessions. Recorded and filmed at Hamilton Live in Washington D.C. this past spring, D.C. Sessions offers stripped down, acoustic renditions of three songs from Edges Run. The videos were exclusively released earlier this month to Mipso’s Spotify fans via a video Unlock campaign. At Spotify, Mipso has over 1.8 million monthly listeners, with “People Change” receiving over 19 million streams since its release five months ago. Watch/embed the D.C. Sessions videos here, and listen to the session on Spotify here.

About Mipso:
Mipso is born from North Carolina’s broad range of disparate musical influences, their distinctly unique sound an undeniable alchemy of the historical musical traditions of the rural south and their progressive home of Chapel Hill.

A discernible and rising force in the upstart musical genre known as Americana, Mipso’s music is lush and forward moving. A tender, harmony-laden river runs through the band’s core, but the rocky outcroppings change with every album outing. Appalachia melds with modern alt-country, hints of folk-rock are leavened with a sly and subversive sense of humor, and underneath it all is a genuine and moving passion for the ever-evolving traditions of Americana. With the recent release of the band’s fifth album, Edges Run (April 2018/Anti-Fragile Music), Mipso continues the complex dance of looking back and moving forward with grace and beauty.
