Today, Austin, Texas’ Phoebe Hunt & The Gatherers debuted the video for “Pink and Blue” with Relix. It’s the second track to premiere from the album Shanti’s Shadow, out June 2nd. The song’s lyrics and imagery came to Phoebe during her time in India, where she and her band participated in ten-hour meditation retreats, and studied under seventh-generation master violinist Kala Ramnath.

Folk Alley debuted the album’s lead single “Lint Head Gal,” a stomping country blues song about a hard working, independent woman. The song was added to NPR Music’s “Heavy Rotation: 10 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing” and embraced by World Cafe.
An accomplished instrumentalist with foundations in jazz and swing music, Hunt makes an impressive leap with Shanti’s Shadow. It’s the culmination of a five year journey that has taken her from her Austin roots through Music Row, Brooklyn and India. Along the way, Phoebe found her voice and delivered her most inspired set of songs to date — the soundtrack to her self-discovery.
Phoebe “is back with a refreshed take on the bluegrass/gypsy jazz that distinguished her first band The Belleville Outfit,” writes The Bluegrass Situation’s Craig Havighurst. “Travels in India have injected a microtonal raga sensibility into her songs, which are arranged with great subtlety for a six piece band.”
