In support of their latest album Alone, The Pretenders have extended their North American tour with Stevie Nicks, which begins on February 23 at Reno, NV’s Reno Events Center, and ends April 6 at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY. Additionally, they have added two more headlining shows at Miami, FL’s Fillmore on March 22 and The Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD on March 27, as well as an Austin City Limits TV show appearance on March 13 to be televised at a later date. Tickets for the newly added headline shows go on sale starting this Friday, February 3 via http://thepretenders. com/. The complete tour itinerary is below.
Alone is the first Pretenders album in eight years and was recorded in Nashville, TN. Originally intended as a solo follow-up to 2014’s Stockholm, it soon became obvious that those driving guitars, ragged-but-righteous arrangements, tough-yet tender lyrics delivered by the most beautifully distinctive voice of a generation, sounded fantastically familiar – The Pretenders were back. Thirty six years after their remarkable first album, Alone could be the older, wiser, badder sister to that exhilarating debut.
“Alone revels in the kind of humanity that’s long made Hynde’s best work with the Pretenders tick, As long as she’s commanding the mic, the Pretenders’ stamp is indelibly made. The result is a record that sounds like the Pretenders, though also unlike anything the group’s done previously.” – Consequence of Sound
“A cocky celebration of rolling solo” – Rolling Stone
“Hynde is magnificent here – unapologetic and deferring to no one.” – The Guardian
First single, “Holy Commotion” went top 10 at Commercial AAA in the US and the album spent multiple weeks at #1 on the AAA Non-Comm Chart. They are following it up with new single and title track “Alone,” which was performed in December on Conan.

Hynde recorded Alone with Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys who stood as captain, producer and multi-instrumentalist on the record, an album which sees Hynde at her searingly honest, most incisive best. The band joining Hynde and Auerbach on the album features Johnny Cash’s former bass player Dave Roe and country rocker Kenny Vaughan on guitar plus sundry members of Dan Auerbach’s side project The Arcs: Richard Swift, drums; Leon Michels, keyboards; and Russ Pahl providing sly curlicues of pedal steel. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Arctic Monkeys, Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello). Duane Eddy also features on the punchy “Never Be Together.” Of the new album, Hynde said: “This record is what I love the most — real people playing real music.”
Alone is available now on CD/LP/Digital:
