Phish has announced plans to once again celebrate New Year’s Eve with a four night run at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, set for Wednesday, December 28th through Saturday, December 31st. The four shows will bring the band’s total performances at the world famous arena to 40 in the years since their MSG debut in December 1994.
An online ticket request period is now underway at tickets.phish.com, ending Monday, October 10th at 12 noon ET. Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, October 14th at 12 noon ET. As with Phish’s two prior MSG runs, all floor tickets will be General Admission.
Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 866-858-0008. Any remaining tickets may be purchased at the Madison Square Garden box office beginning Saturday, October 15th (MondaySaturday, 10 am – 6 pm).
The 2016 Madison Square Garden dates follow the up release of Phish’s new studio album, BIG BOAT. Released via the band’s own JEMP Records, BIG BOAT arrives on Friday, October 7th.
BIG BOAT is available now for pre-order at the Phish Dry Goods Official Store, with all CD and digital pre-orders accompanied by instant downloads of the album’s lead track, “Breath and Burning,” as well as the just released “Blaze On.” All physical pre-orders via Phish Dry Goods come with a free 36″ x 36″oversized print of the album’s cover.
NPR Music’s All Songs Considered debuted “Breath and Burning” earlier this month, applauding it as “a breezy rocker punctuated by some classic soul horn lines and a joyful key-change in the chorus that hints at future jams,” adding that “while it highlights Phish’s trademark songcraft and knotty wordplay, Anastasio and the band are revealing more of themselves in the lyrics.”
Recorded in Nashville, New York, and the band’s hone state of Vermont, BIG BOAT features 13 new songs contributed by all four members of the band – Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell. The album was recently named among Rolling Stone‘s “Fall Preview 2016: 35 Must-Hear Albums,” with Anastasio noting, “There’s definitely a point of view to this one. We’re old enough to have a healthy respect for mortality.” The album was produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, KISS), his second collaboration with Phish following 2014’s FUEGO.
Phish recently wrapped its summer 2016 tour with a trio of sold out Labor Day shows at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO and is now getting ready to embark on its upcoming fall tour. The dates begin October 14th at North Charleston, SC’s North Charleston Coliseum and include two night stands in Nashville, TN, Alpharetta, GA, and Grand Prairie, TX, as well as the band’s first-ever concert in Jacksonville, FL. The October outing concludes with a sold out four-night run at Las Vegas, NV’s MGM Grand Garden Arena culminating on Halloween. Phish will return to Riviera Maya’s Barceló Maya Beach for their second annual four-night all-inclusive concert vacation, to take place on January 13th-15th, 2017. For complete details and ticket information, please see phishrivieramaya.com.
