Today, Americana-Folk quintet Forlorn Strangers released their brand new video for “Bottom of the Barrel” exclusively through Elmore Magazine. “Bottom of the Barrel” is the first single from the Nashville group’s debut self-titled full-length release out on August 5, 2016. “We wrote “Bottom of the Barrel” after watching a documentary about Pete Seeger calledThe Power of Song,” the band reveals to Elmore. “[Seeger] used his music for something bigger than himself, and this song is about us figuring out how to do that as well.” The video and song are playful and lighthearted, but the lyrics imply something deeper.
Forlorn Strangers was recorded at John Prine’s Nashville studio The Butcher Shoppe and funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign. The 10-track album combines the talents of five songwriters whose unique styles blend into a singular, unforgettable sound that is simultaneously innovative and steeped in the tradition of American roots music.
