Neon Trees

Pop Psychology (Island Records), the new album from multi-platinum group Neon Trees, debuts at #6 on The Billboard 200, marking the band’s highest charting album to date! They are #1 on the iTunes Alternative Album Chart and Top 5 in the Overall iTunes Album Chart.

The band will perform in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza on Friday, August 15, as part of the “Toyota Concert Series on TODAY,” which will air live on NBC’s “Today.” Neon Trees’ North American headline tour kicks off on May 12 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and includes shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles (June 14), The Complex in Salt Lake City (June 16), and New York City’s Central Park Summer Stage (July 7). Smallpools and Nightmare and the Cat will open.

Neon Trees – comprising Tyler Glenn (lead vocals, keys), Chris Allen (guitars), Branden Campbell (bass), and Elaine Bradley (drums, vocals) – have scored another multi-format smash with “Sleeping With A Friend,” the first single from Pop Psychology. The track – recently named “Song of the Week” by USA Today –  can be purchased HERE on iTunes and the official video can be viewed HERE.

Lead singer Tyler Glenn will appear on E!’s “Chelsea Lately” tomorrow, Thursday, May 1, and “NPR Weekend Edition” profiled Neon Trees last Saturday in this pieceEntertainment Weekly praised the band’s unique mixture of “energy and insight,” likening the album to a “40-minute master class in the kind of pop that moves both the body and the brain.” “Pop Psychology opens with the biggest, shiniest songs [Glenn’s] come up with, each taking on a slippery aspect of post-modern romance,” said Rolling Stone, which also noted, “The stark, chilly synth ballad ‘Voices in the Hall’ works as both a late-night breakup lament and a testament of personal struggle, as if the difference between pop and art was no difference at all.” “They may be singing about ‘Love in the 21st Century’ on tracks like said opener and ‘Text Me in the Morning,’ but this quartet still has their heart in ’80s pop and alt rock,” said People while the Salt Lake Tribune observed, “each smart, new-wavey song is instantly recognizable as Neon Trees. And that is a good thing, indeed.”

Neon Trees recorded Pop Psychology in Cabo San Lucas, Los Angeles, and their hometown of Provo, UT with longtime collaborator Tim Pagnotta. The album, which is available on iTunes HERE, is the follow up to 2012’s Picture Show, which featured the RIAA double platinum single “Everybody Talks,” which charted in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Neon Trees’ debut album, Habits, was released in 2010 and featured the double platinum smash single “Animal.” The band has toured with Taylor Swift, The Killers, Maroon 5, Duran Duran, Flaming Lips, My Chemical Romance, among others.
