Last month, a La Blogotheque video crew traveled to Houndmouth’s hometown of New Albany, IN to capture what things look like – to paraphrase their album title – ‘From the Hills Below the City.’ While roaming the area, the Rough Trade quartet performed acoustic and electric songs for their “Take Away Show” – out in the woods, on the banks of the Ohio River, and even sitting around the “Green House,” the rehearsal space where they did their first recordings.
The videos show a year’s worth of on-the-road performance polish brought back home to the tiny town where it all began. In addition to the two original songs, the band revealed two new covers they’ve honed on tour: Funkadelic’s “Can You Get To That” Johnny Cash’s “Long Black Veil.”
Back on the road after their “soulful” (Austin Chronicle) Austin City Limits performance Friday, Houndmouth is currently on a headlining fall tour that includes two sold-out New York shows as well as upcoming dates in Chicago, Philadelphia, and LA this Wednesday.
