Having just released his debut solo album Regions of Light and Sound of God last month on ATO Records, Jim James has shown no signs of slowing down with the announcement of next week’s multiple SXSW dates, a SXSW “In Conversation” interview with Bill Flanagan, a segment on Pitchfork TV, and upcoming festival performance dates at Forecastle Festival, XPN Festival, and Newport Folk Festival, and Bonnaroo. In addition to his performance at Bonnaroo, Jim is also taking part in a soul superjam featuring Jim James with John Oats, Zigaboo Modeliste, and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Jim is also kicking off his North American tour in April in support of the album.
Taking place at Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel, Jim James awed audiences with his luminous, mystical performance in February. Pitchfork TV captured Jim performing “State of the Art” as well as a behind the scenes interview of the meaning behind the song and why he chose to perform at Sleep No More. Be sure to also catch Jim on NPR’s World Café April 5 at 2pm EST, here.
