Lindsey Stirling, the dancing violinist who “shreds faster than Eddie Van Halen while maintaining the elegant composure of a top-tier Russian ballerina” (Perez Hilton), has confirmed a 44 date US tour that will kick off February 5th in Pawtucket, RI.
Stirling’s 2013 tour comes on the heels of her self-titled, debut album – ranking on Billboard’s Top 200, Electronic and Classical Albums charts – and her 26-date, sold out fall tour. Her video for “Crystallize” was just named the 8th most watched YouTube video of 2012, with 42.9 million views.
Described by USA Today as “Mozart meets Skrillex,” Stirling is a classically trained violinist that made it to the quarter finals on the fifth season of America’s Got Talent before achieving internet stardom with her videos that mix classical violin, dubstep and animated contemporary dance. On stage, Stirling weaves original dubstep and electonica with classical elements from the many covers she performs – including “Lord of the Rings” and “Zelda” – backed by drummer Drew Steen and keyboardist Jason Gaviati.
Stirling’s YouTube channel (Lindseystomp) has more than 1.3 million subscribers and 200 million total views, topping Taylor Swift and Coldplay on YouTube.
