On February 5th Jenny O. will release her debut album Automechanic. Produced by Jonathan Wilson (Dawes, Father John Misty, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy) and recorded in Los Angeles, Automechanic is the follow up to her critically acclaimed EP Home. She’ll head out on tour this month with LA ‘s freak-folk outfit He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister, headline some of her own shows, perform atSXSW and then join the 6th annual Revival Tour in April of this year. 2013’s edition ofThe Revival Tour will have Jenny O. joining tour organizer Chuck Ragan, Rocky Votolato, Dave Jause (Loved Ones) Tim McIlrath (Rise Against) and Jenny Owens Young in addition to other artists yet to be announced.
Jenny O.’s debut album, Automechanic was inspired by her love for classic automobiles and the romantic dedication people have to fixing them. Whether conjuring up Stevie Nicks on the groove laden “Good Love” or Dusty Springfield on the gut wrenching ballad “Opposite Island,” one thing is clear- Jenny O. is a timeless and authentic singer-songwriter, the kind that only appears every so often. There’s already been early excitement for the record with The LA Weekly naming her one of 2013’s “artists that are about to blow up” and the LA Times called the record one of their most anticipated this year.
Jenny O.’s songs have appeared in television shows “True Blood” and “Wilfred,” inToyota and Subaru commercials and used by J.Crew and Target for marketing initiatives. Jenny was also invited to appear on the Buddy Holly tribute album Rave Onalongside the Black Keys, Paul McCartney and Fiona Apple. Jenny has opened tours for Father John Misty, Rodriguez, Leon Russell, Ben Harper and Dave Matthew’s Caravan.
