Taking a rare break from the road this week The Milk Carton Kids (Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan) will spend 4 days in the studio recording their next album (due early 2013) before heading right back out on the road for a string of fall solo dates and winter tour with Punch Brothers (dates listed below).

This follows a year of high profile support slots (Old Crow Medicine Show, The Lumineers, KD Lang, Dar Williams, Joe Purdy) and festival appearances (Four Corners Folk Festival, The Americana Music Conference, Folk Alliance, Central Park Summerstage, SXSW & the upcoming Rhythm & Roots Festival).

Pattengale and Ryan have released 2 albums, Retrospect (a live album of their solo songs performed as a duo) and the studio album Prologuefor free, no strings attached, direct-to-fans resulting in more than 115,000 downloads and growing. Prologue also includes a lengthy foreword from legend Joe Henry. Known for their intricately crafted harmonies, winding acoustic guitars and on-stage wit, The Milk Carton Kids use two guitars and two voices to create a new combination of classic folk and sophisticated back-porch Americana. Critical praise has ranged far and wide from supporters such as NPR, Time Magazine, Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, American Songwriter, Daytrotter, Brooklyn Vegan, No Depression, WXPN, WFUV and more. The band’s one appearance at SXSW 2012 received “best of festival” picks from The New York Times, NPR and Time Magazine.
