Gov’t Mule’s first tour since 2010 extends with performances celebrating the release of ‘The Georgia Box,’ a 6-disc, 65-track live collection of seminal Mule shows from 3 concerts in 1996. Mule will continue their Halloween tradition at The Riviera in Chicago on 10/31, with a special evening of music they are calling “Gov’t Mule’s Halloween Experience”.
‘The Georgia Bootleg Box’ features over 7 hours of gritty, driving blues, soaring jams and wicked guitar work. It’s a unique look back at the trio, just two years old in ’96, locked in and ripping through songs that have become classics of Mule’s live set. Says Haynes: “I was instantly taken with the visceral nature of the music along with the rawness of the way they were captured,” when he recently rediscovered the recordings after fifteen years. “This was at a time in our career when our repertoire was small but constantly growing, not unlike our fan base.”
Gov’t Mule’s “connection with the state of Georgia is a deep one,” he says. “Our first rehearsals were at the one-time living quarters of the Allman Brothers Band known as The Big House in Macon, GA…A lot of our growth as a band took place in front of Georgia audiences.”
Since forming in 1994, Gov’t Mule has become a legendary live act and a headliner at music festivals around the world. The band is led by Warren Haynes, guitarist and vocalist for The Allman Brothers, The Dead, and The Warren Haynes Band.
Gov’t Mule’s biggest tour since 2010 will include September dates on the West Coast and a New Years run with two shows in Philly and a return for the 11th straight year for two nights in NYC at the Beacon Theater for New Years Eve.
