Silk Hope, NC – On Saturday, August 20th The Shakori Hills Community Arts Center will be holding its 2nd Annual North Carolina Stars in the Round Fundraiser. All funds from the event will go toward the down payment on the land on which many Shakori Hills events are held. Once the organization owns the land, they will have more freedom and infrastructure to carry on their mission of being a center for arts education and community-building for Chatham County and beyond.
Chapel Hill’s newest Americana smash, Mipso Trio (http://mipsomusic.com/) will start off the evening. Following that, there will be a singer-songwriter circle featuring Andrew Marlin (of Mandolin Orange), Charly Lowry (of Dark Water Rising), Justin Robinson (from the Carolina Chocolate Drops), Laurelyn Dossett, Randy Whitt, Music Maker Relief Foundation’s Ron Hunter, Christy Smith (of The Tender Fruit), and Jeanne Jolly. The Old Ceremony (http://www.theoldceremony.com) will finish out the night with their own version of Shakori rock & roll!
There will be pizza from the Shakori Hills Pizza Shack, beer from Carolina Brewery, and the Coffee Barn will be open with coffee and snacks. This is a family-friendly event and all are welcome to camp overnight on Saturday. To find out more about the effort to buy the land, visit http://www.shakorihills.org.
