Superfly Presents is proud to announce the 2011 Superfly during Jazzfest concert series. Series events will take place April 28 – 29 and May 5 – May 8 aboard the Riverboat Creole Queen as well as at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre. Confirmed shows are listed below. As usual, the festival’s 15th annual installment will present top national talent alongside some of the best acts from New Orleans’ infinitely rich music scene. All shows will be part of the StubHub! Concert Series.
Throughout the years, Superfly Presents’ signature has always been to book exclusive and unique event shows during Jazzfest, and this year’s Superfly During Jazzfest series is no different. It will include two shows at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre — one will be the Warren Haynes Band & Friends show that will feature an array of very special guests soon to be announced. Following in the tradition of his past New Orleans performances, Haynes will welcome many of the city’s greatest musicians to the stage to join him and his band. The other is a special co-headline show with The Funky Meters and Galactic with special guests Corey Glover (Living Colour) and Corey Henry (Rebirth Brass Band). The series will also feature intimate shows aboard the legendary Riverboat Creole Queen. These Riverboat shows will present Galactic with very special guest Chali 2na, Greyboy Allstars, Soulive with special guests Dr. Klaw and the Shady Horns and North Mississippi Allstars. Kirk Joseph’s 504 Brass Band have also been enlisted to join each of these Riverboat Creole Queen shows.
Conceived in 1997, the Superfly during Jazzfest Concert Series eventually attracted thousands of fans from all over the country, and became the foundation for the iconic Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The popular series has presented live music fans with creative entertainment options throughout the past 14 festival seasons, and will continue to offer memorable events in the company’s birthplace for years to come.
“There is no city like New Orleans, and Jazzfest is one of the most special times there,” says Superfly’s Katherine Tooley. “We are honored to be part of this annual tradition and love bringing great music there every year.”
In order to better serve the fans of this longstanding institution, Superfly is once again partnering with StubHub!, the world’s largest ticket marketplace. StubHub! will serve as the presenting sponsor of the concert series for the third consecutive year.
“We’ve had a great experience partnering with Superfly Productions on this incredible concert series,” said Chuck La Vallee, Head of Music Business Development for StubHub!. “This years line up is fantastic and we know fans are going to really enjoy the shows.”
Stubhub! will be selling exclusive VIP packages to each show. All proceeds from the packages will go to benefit the New Orleans Musicians Clinic and Common Ground.
Superfly has also partnered with Relix magazine to create a Superfly During Jazzfest Flyaway Package, which includes airfare, accommodations, exclusive merchandise and meet-and-greets, two tickets to all Superfly during Jazzfest shows and to each day of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
