This year is shaping up to be the biggest yet for funk legend Bootsy Collins, whose first new album in five years, ‘Tha Funk Capitol of the World’ (out 4/26), features an all-star lineup of musicians (Snoop Dogg, Chuck D, IceCube; actor Samuel L. Jackson; banjo phenom Bela Fleck; the Rev. Al Sharpton; scholar Dr. Cornel West; guitarist Buckethead and more).

Here’s just a few of the other exciting projects that Bootsy’s been workingon lately:

*Bootsy joined Kanye West, T-Pain, R.Kelly, and more in the studio to contribute to rapper Snoop Dogg’s forthcoming album, ‘Doggumentary,’ out March28.

*New York Magazine recently reported that Bootsy was in the studio laying down bass for William Shatner’s new record. Joining Bootsy were other special guests including Brian May, Peter Frampton, Zakk Wylde, Yes’s Steve Howe, and Deep Purple’s Ian Paice.

*Sly Stone invited Bootsy to lend his signature groove to an upcoming studio project. Jeff Beck, Ray Manzarek of The Doors, Ann Wilson of Heart, andothers joined Bootsy and Sly for the recording sessions.
