Circles Around the Sun have announced a September tour with appearances across the West Coast, Pacific Northwest and Colorado. It’s the first extensive run of shows in the Western half of the U.S. with new guitarist Scott Metzger. Earlier this year, the Brooklyn-based musician was officially named the permanent replacement for founding member Neal Casal who passed away in August 2019. Tickets begin going on-sale today, 10am local, at:

Along with a late summer tour, Circles Around the Sun are in pre-production for a new album to be recorded in July with a planned Spring 2022 release date. The band’s previous effort—a self-titled, seven-track collection, their fourth to date and last with Neal Casal—was released in January 2020. Aquarium Drunkard wrote: “Casal and crew fire it up, offering deep-fried boogies that suggest a Giorgio Moroder produced Shakedown Street. Exploring the middle ground between psych and disco, Circles Around the Sun III is all fat Moog basslines and slinky speedball guitars, with a fair amount of studious jazz fusion in the mix for good measure.”

Most recently, Circles Around the Sun, which in addition to new guitarist Scott Metzger includes keyboardist Adam MacDougall, bassist Dan Horne and drummer Mark Levy, released a livestream filmed at Liberty Hair Farm on Fans.Live .
