It has been a while since we last heard from Dopapod, but speculation of the band’s future can end today. “We’re all incredibly excited to bring the band back together to usher in the next chapter of Dopapod,” keyboardist Eli Winderman shares. “We’ve been blown away by the amount of speculation on our return and just the overall love and support surrounding the band.”
To usher in this latest chapter, Dopapod will reunite on April 27th, 2019 for their debut performance at Port Chester, NY’s historic Capitol Theatre. “There is so much history at The Cap and it’s truly an honor to be a part of that,” continues Winderman. “We’re looking forward to doing our thing there and it just felt like the perfect venue to bring the band back.” So far, this is the band’s only performance planned.
Now, what has the four-piece – comprised of Winderman plus bandmates Rob Compa (guitar/vocals), Chuck Jones (bass) and Neal “Fro Evans (drums) – been up to over the last year? They affectionately shout out what their Lighting and Sound Designer, Luke Stratton, has been up to – joining Smashing Pumpkins on a tour throughout the U.S. and Europe. As for the other members?
“This last year was much needed for all of us,” continues Winderman. “We all were able to explore other musical avenues in our lives and it really helped inspire everyone.” To name a few accomplishments, Rob wrote and recorded his first solo album and has been playing alongside different bands including Barika (which features Craig Myers from Mike Gordon Band). Eli has been working on Octave Cat’s latest album and started a weekly funk show – Funk n’ Bowl – in Philadelphia. And Chuck and Neal recorded a new album and toured behind their other project, Mom and Dad.
